Even though there were times of struggle at the beginning with little cash, the Quintanilla family persevered and remained focused in their endeavors to be an effective band. Selena Y Los Dinos, a band that gained popularity across the Western States at the end of the 1980s is the result of their persistence. Selena was awarded Female singer and Performer at the Tejano Music Awards in 1986. Selena Y Los Dinos continued to win prizes of Tejano awards for music, and they gained notoriety and fame. They've appeared on a variety of Spanish television shows like El Show De Johnny Canales Siempre En Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
