Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by the multiracial, mixed-ethnic family. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez comes of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Her brothers are elder, and two younger ones. Her parents moved to Bahrain in 1980s due to the Lankan civil unrest and hence she was raised in Bahrain. After finishing the schooling in Bahrain she received a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. She went to the Berlitz School of Foreign Languages which allowed her to improve her French, Arabic and Spanish. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. The TV show she appeared on was founded after winning the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her show, Lanka Business Report, is about business in Sri Lanka. Padukone was the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. When she was a teenager she competed in badminton at national level championships but left her professional career to pursue a career as a model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. She is Mangalorean in her origins. Padukone is a village located in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone's father was an international badminton player who is now retired. The mother of the child is a traveling agent.
